When introduced in 1957, the split-P pickup was a breakthrough in ways that many people didn’t appreciate. The string never leaves the magnetic field due to having two polepieces surrounding each string. This design minimizes hum while retaining the clarity and transparency of a single coil since there is no phase cancellation. With alnico V polepieces and black covers, it’s the real thing! Fits standard P Bass body rout.
